More than 50 car brands included in the list of parallel imports

The list of parallel imports in the automotive industry currently includes more than 50 brands from unfriendly countries, said Igor Boytsov, director of the automotive industry and railway engineering department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, during the round table “Transport and logistics in the new economic reality.”

“Speaking of meeting demand, I would like to draw attention to the current mechanism of parallel imports, which contributes to the saturation of the market both for cars and for components and spare parts. At the moment, more than 50 brands from unfriendly countries are included in the list,” he said.

Earlier, the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced the expansion of the list of goods allowed for parallel imports by Citroen, Isuzu, Mazda, Opel, Peugeot, Renault, Ford, Genesis, Hyundai, Kia, Dacia and Hino brands.

In early March 2022, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree abolishing liability for parallel imports. The government allowed the import into the country of demanded original foreign-made goods without the consent of the copyright holders. In early May, a list of goods for parallel imports was published, which included 56 groups of goods – auto parts, clothing and cosmetics, appliances and smartphones, both for certain brands and for the whole category of goods. In particular, the list includes car brands: GM, Chevrolet, Mitsubishi, Tesla, Honda, Nissan, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Volkswagen, Skoda, Audi, Toyota, Lexus, Suzuki, Volvo.
